FolioVault Music Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026
This policy covers the FolioVault Music app for Android and iPhone. The foliovault.org website has its own Privacy Policy.
Signing in
When you sign in with Google, the app receives your Google account ID, email address and name, and sends them to our server once to recognise you. If you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple account ID and the email address Apple shares with us, and link it to your Google account. We never see your Google or Apple password and cannot read anything else in those accounts.
Your household
The app shows your music and the music of your household. To know who is in your household, our server reads the household list you and your family keep in Contented Wife (contentedwife.com): only people who accepted an invite are included. The people in your household can see and play the songs in your FolioVault library, and you can see theirs.
What we keep on our servers
- Your music library: the songs, their details and files that you added on foliovault.org.
- Playlists you make in the app.
- Sign-in records for each phone (kept as a one-way hash), so the app stays signed in.
These are stored with our service providers Google Cloud and Microsoft Azure. Music files are stored with Backblaze B2 and reach your phone through links that expire after a few hours.
What stays on your phone
Downloaded songs, cover art, your library list, the play queue and your settings are stored in the app's private storage. Sign-in tokens are kept in the phone's secure storage (Android Keystore or iOS Keychain). They are removed when you delete downloads or sign out (if you choose to), or uninstall the app.
What we don't do
- No ads, no analytics and no tracking inside the app.
- We don't sell or rent your information, and we don't share it with anyone other than the service providers named above, which process it only to run the app.
- The app doesn't access your contacts, photos, location or microphone.
Children
The app is meant for households whose account holder is an adult. Children may use it only as members of a household set up by a parent or guardian.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your playlists and sign-in records while you use the app. You can ask us to delete them at any time: see Delete your data.
Security
All traffic uses HTTPS. Every request is checked against the signed-in person's household before any song or file link is returned.
Changes
We will update this page if this policy changes and show the date at the top.
